Recently, eyelash extensions have become increasingly popular amongst women and girls. The reason is quite simple : with eyelash extensions, your look intensifies and deepens ! Today, eyelash extensions application is considered by many beauty salons as a major and significant activity to add to their services. Therefore, in order to keep a satisfied and loyal customer base, the beautician and esthetician must become an unbeatable eyelash extension professional. This become a real export of the service, they have to learn everything especially about the glue adapted to this new demand. So what is the glue used for eyelash extensions and what type of glue is the best for eyelashes ?
Identify the best glue for eyelash extensions
Not all eyelash extensions adhesives are the same. Indeed, the hold of the eyelash depends on the quality of the glue used. Some are better than others. A glue is considered of good quality when it dries in about one second, almost as soon as the lash is applied. However, the setting time is highly influenced by the ambient air. The wetter the latter, the faster the curing time. For quick application and optimal results, it is recommended to apply the eyelash extensions in a room with a humidity level between 40 and 50% and where the temperature varies between 21 and 24°C.
In addition to the setting time, price is also an important quality indicator : good quality adhesives are more expensive. The price of a good quality eyelash extension adhesive is often around 80 euros per 5 ml. 5 ml of glue is enough to perform over 40 applications, if the installation techniques are well mastered.
Also, it is recommended to take into account the brand of the glue. Good quality adhesives are often produced by well-known brands. Eyes are precious, the glue is definitely something to highlight in terms of choices.
Some advice on use and storage
Even the best eyelash extension glue can deteriorate very quickly if used or stored in poor conditions. To preserve the effectiveness of a glue, here are some tips:
- Never store a container of glue with the lid open in the refrigerator;
- Before using glue, if it is black, always shake the container well to prevent the black pigments from settling to the bottom;
- As soon as an eyelash extension adhesive is damaged, replacement is required. Thus, when the product looks like a transparent liquid with black pigment spots, it means it is unusable. An adhesive that quickly forms threads despite optimal conditions of use must also be replaced.
What to do in case of an allergic reaction?
Some people are allergic to glues for eyelash extensions or more simply to the adhesive category as a whole. However, it is very important to know the difference between an allergy and a reaction. An allergy can only be defined by a specialist such as a doctor or an allergist. A reaction may be from a missed or improperly performed step on the part of the technician.
Generally, the first reactions appear only 48 hours after the pose: the eyes burn while becoming red for example. These symptoms may be accompanied by a strong itch in the eyelid. Allergy, it will intervene from the very first seconds when providing eyelash extensions.
To avoid these difficulties, the best advice is to follow without any lack the procedures taught during training in eyelash extensions such as a perfect make-up removal, then cleaning with an eyelash shampoo, the application of a stabilizer such as the Balance 7 … At the end of the service, it is essential to use the Nanomist to eliminate the last traces of glue vapor that could still be volatile in the room and especially above the eyes of the client. Other factors can easily explain this type of reaction: patches positioned too close to the mucosa of the eye, too much glue points on natural eyelashes or application of extensions too close to the eyelid.
If this problem appears nevertheless, it is important that the client cleans her eye well with saline for example and especially if the problem persists, to come back to the technician to assess if a removal is necessary and of course to consult a doctor.
Can an allergic customer have new eyelash extensions applied ?
First of all, again, it is very important to differentiate the allergic reaction from a simple reaction. To clear any doubt about the allergic reaction, it is possible to apply a small drop of glue on the inside of the arm or behind the ear of the client in question because the skin is very thin in these places and therefore react very quick. If the skin becomes red for example or scrapes from the first seconds, it will actually be better to refrain from performing the service of eyelash extensions. Otherwise, and without any advice from a specialist, it is impossible to detect that the person is perfectly allergic to the adhesive.
It should be noted that some glues for eyelash extension are more suitable for sensitive eyes. This type of glue contains for example less cyanoacrylate than usual glues. Also, it is known that transparent glues, containing no pigments, emit less steam and are therefore more suitable.
In summary, prudence and respect for procedures are key elements in order to always have the greatest customer satisfaction and a flawless result for each application.
